About Our Product
This Vajrayana Practice Phurba is a handcrafted ritual dagger created from ethically sourced bone, featuring intricate carvings and traditional Himalayan craftsmanship. Measuring 31 cm in height, this sacred Buddhist ritual object showcases a wrathful deity form at the upper section, detailed wings extending on both sides, and a finely carved blade with ornamental motifs. The aged appearance and engraved patterns reflect the traditional character of ancient Vajrayana ritual instruments.
The Phurba features a fierce protective face, crowned head design, winged elements, and a carved handle representing powerful tantric symbolism. The upper figure holds a sacred presence associated with wrathful deities who embody the transformation of obstacles into wisdom. The three sided blade represents the cutting away of ignorance, attachment, and negative forces, while the ritual dagger serves as a symbolic tool for spiritual purification and enlightenment practices.
This Tibetan Bone Phurba is a meaningful addition to Buddhist altars, meditation spaces, and collections of Himalayan ritual artifacts. Used within Vajrayana traditions, it represents protection, inner transformation, and the cultivation of peace through spiritual practice. Its detailed bone carving and unique iconographic design make it a significant piece for practitioners and collectors of Buddhist ceremonial objects.
Introduction of Phurba
The ceremonial dagger (Sanskrit: Kila; Tibetan: phurba) is essential for expelling evil and is considered particularly effective in neutralizing the forces obstructing Tantric Buddhist practice. It has ancient origins, first appearing in the Indian Rig Veda as the core blade of the vajra used by Indra to destroy the primordial cosmic snake Vritra. Kila, derived from Sanskrit, was most likely associated with Vedic sacrifices. Meditation on the Vajrakila Tantra, an early Indian scripture first promoted in Tibet in the eighth century by Padmasambhava, one of the founding teachers of Tibetan Buddhism, is used to invoke the three-headed Vajrakila Buddha.
