About Our Product:
This Tsongkhapa Sacred Pendant measures 6cm in height, 4cm in length, and 1cm in width, and weighs 0.028 kg. The locket case is handcrafted from white metal by local artisans of Patan and features a colorful acrylic depiction of Tsongkhapa within the central panel. Four turquoise stones are placed at the corners of the front frame, creating vivid blue-green accents against the silver-toned metal. The rectangular form, detailed borders, painted artwork, and gemstone settings give the piece a distinctive traditional Himalayan appearance.
The front panel presents Tsongkhapa seated against a large orange halo, dressed in traditional monastic robes and surrounded by lotus and decorative elements. The central artwork is enclosed by an ornate white metal border featuring repeated circular patterns, scrolling designs, and fine raised details. Turquoise cabochons are positioned at each corner, emphasizing the rectangular composition. The reverse side features an extensively worked raised ornamental design with symmetrical flowing motifs and a central decorative form. A metal loop at the top allows the locket to be suspended from a necklace or cord.
Tsongkhapa is one of the most influential masters in Tibetan Buddhism and is traditionally regarded as the founder of the Gelug school. He is particularly revered for his teachings on Buddhist philosophy, ethics, meditation, and the gradual path to enlightenment. This pendant brings his imagery together with the traditional metalworking heritage of Patan, making it suitable for personal Buddhist jewelry, gifting, collecting, or keeping as a small representation of Tibetan Buddhist art.
Introduction of Locket
A Buddhist locket is a piece of jewelry designed to hold a small prayer, mantra, or image related to Buddhist practice. The locket may feature a design or image of a Buddhist deity, such as the Buddha, or a representation of a sacred symbol, like the lotus flower. It is typically worn as a talisman to remind the wearer of their spiritual path and to offer protection. Some Buddhist lockets are also used as a form of religious devotion and are frequently given as gifts to friends and family members to provide them with spiritual support and blessings.
