About Our Product
This Traditional Tibetan Ritual Kangling Set includes two elongated ceremonial horns created from copper and accented with white metal fittings. Each instrument measures 39 cm in length and features a narrow tubular shaft that gradually widens into a rounded lower chamber. The contrasting metal details along the stem, mouthpiece, and lower borders enhance the traditional profile, making the pair suitable for Vajrayana ritual spaces, Buddhist altars, meditation rooms, and collections of Himalayan ceremonial art.
The Kangling horns display a carefully shaped structure with raised metal bands, slender upper stems, circular mouthpieces, and rounded trumpet ends. The white metal fittings define the mouthpiece, shaft, and lower borders, enriching the traditional ceremonial appearance of each Kangling. Small rings positioned near the lower openings add to the traditional ceremonial design and may assist with attaching ritual cords or decorative elements during practice.
Within Tibetan Buddhism, the Kangling is closely associated with Chöd and other Vajrayana ceremonies focused on confronting fear, releasing ego attachment, and recognizing impermanence. Its distinctive sound may accompany chanting, hand drums, bells, and meditation practices intended to transform inner obstacles into wisdom. This copper Kangling set represents courage, spiritual discipline, and the aspiration to move beyond self-clinging toward compassion, peace, and enlightenment.
Introduction of Kangling
A Buddhist kangling is a unique and significant ritual implement used in Tibetan Buddhism ceremonies. It is crafted from the femur of a sacrificed animal, typically a cow, and features intricate silverwork with elaborate designs. The kangling produces a hauntingly beautiful sound when played, often described as a wailing or screaming sound, which is believed to dispel negativity, purify the environment, and aid in meditation. Its use in rituals is deeply rooted in spiritual practice, and the kangling holds great importance for monks and practitioners seeking to connect with the divine through sound and ceremony.
