Traditional Three Bodhisattvas | Thangka with 24K Gold Detailing for Meditation Practice
This typical Three Bodhisattvas thangka features the mighty and wrathful Vajrapani in the center, surrounded by two calm bodhisattvas, Avalokiteshvara (Chenrezig) and Manjushri. His position as the guardian and embodiment of the dynamic energy needed to overcome barriers and bring forth compassion is highlighted by the powerful image of him seated amidst swirling flames. His blue body and fierce face, along with the flames around him, demonstrate his remarkable ability to conquer evil and ignorance. Manjushri, who wields a sword to sever ignorance, and Avalokiteshvara, who represents compassion, sit calmly with tranquil expressions on either side. These three Bodhisattvas are traditionally revered for their qualities of wisdom, compassion, and protection in Buddhist practice.
This thangka's use of acrylic colors creates striking depth and contrasts, particularly in the orange and red flames behind Vajrapani, which emphasize his furious disposition. The bodhisattvas' heavenly presence and spiritual brilliance are highlighted by the genuine 24K gold decorations utilized throughout, particularly on the lotus base and the halos around them. The mountains, clouds, and symbolic lotus bases in the background are rich in symbolic detail and symbolize the natural and spiritual worlds ruled by these Bodhisattvas. The whole composition embodies the interdependence of wisdom, compassion, and power in Buddhism by striking a harmonic balance between the transformational, dynamic energy of Vajrapani and the serene, meditative nature of Avalokiteshvara and Manjushri.
