The famous Kagyu master Gampopa, a key figure in the Karma Kagyu lineage and one of the most significant instructors in Tibetan Buddhism, is shown in the traditional Thangka of Gompopa. Skilled artists in the Kathmandu Valley use traditional methods to hand-paint this sacred thangka on handmade cotton canvas. Artists use acrylic colors to create the delicate mountain scenery, glowing halos, ancestral figures, guardian deities, offerings, and intricate throne settings.
