About Our Product

This Traditional Sacred Butter Lamp is crafted from brass, measuring 29cm in height and 30cm in diameter, with a base diameter of 21.5cm, an inner depth of 9cm, and a weight of 8.24 kg. Made in 2024, this Tibetan Buddhist butter lamp features a broad offering bowl supported by an intricately decorated pedestal base. Its golden brass finish, raised ornamental patterns, and traditional Himalayan design reflect the artistic character of Buddhist ritual craftsmanship. This large brass butter lamp is suitable for monastery altars, Buddhist shrines, meditation rooms, ceremonial offerings, and collections of Himalayan religious artwork.

The Buddhist butter lamp features a wide circular bowl with a gently flared upper rim decorated with repeating floral patterns and finely carved borders. Beneath the bowl, elegant draped garland motifs hang in symmetrical arrangements, complemented by small ornamental pendants and raised decorative details. The central stem displays layered circular bands and intricate floral carvings, connecting the upper bowl to an elaborate pedestal. Its flared base features overlapping lotus-inspired petals, repeating geometric-style patterns, and beaded borders along the lower edge. The warm golden brass surface highlights the detailed relief carvings and traditional craftsmanship of this Himalayan ritual offering lamp.

In Tibetan Buddhism, butter lamps symbolize wisdom, enlightenment, and the removal of ignorance through the offering of light. Lighting a butter lamp is traditionally regarded as an act of devotion and generosity, representing the aspiration to develop compassion, spiritual clarity, and positive merit. The lotus-inspired decorations reflect purity and spiritual awakening, while the light symbolizes the wisdom of Buddhist teachings. This traditional brass butter lamp is suitable for daily prayers, meditation practices, Buddhist altar offerings, monastery ceremonies, and sacred shrine displays. It also makes a meaningful addition to Himalayan Buddhist ritual collections.

Introduction to Butter Lamp

The whole process of offering a butter lamp is also a very spiritual practice. The traditional practice of preparing a butter lamp starts by washing one’s hand, wearing a mask to protect from contaminating the butter lamp through one’s breath, making the wick out of pure cotton, and cleaning the chalices with a clean piece of cloth reserved for this or fresh mosses from the trees, which was commonly used in old times. The whole process is a meditative spiritual practice that engages a person physically and mentally if they know and practices it according to the norms.
