About our Prayer Wheel

This Traditional Buddhist Mantra Wheel Set features three individual brass prayer wheels arranged within a handcrafted wooden stand. Each wheel is decorated with Tibetan mantra inscriptions and colorful ornamental details, creating a compact display of traditional Buddhist devotional objects. The complete piece measures 8cm in height and 19.5cm in width, weighs 0.28 kg, and combines wood and brass.

Each of the three cylindrical wheels is designed with a central rotating body, decorated bands, and a small finial at the top. Tibetan mantra characters encircle the brass surfaces, while small colored accents add detail around the upper sections. The wheels are suspended between the carved wooden supports, allowing them to be individually turned while remaining securely arranged within the stand. The wooden frame itself features raised scrolling patterns along the top and base.

Prayer wheels are traditionally rotated as a devotional practice in Tibetan Buddhism, often accompanied by mantra recitation and contemplation. This three-wheel arrangement is suitable for a Buddhist altar, meditation table, prayer space, or as a decorative representation of Tibetan Buddhist practice.

Introduction to Prayer Wheel

A prayer wheel is cylindrical on a spindle and is used in Tibetan Buddhism. It is typically inscribed with the mantra "Om Mani Padme Hum" and rotated by hand as a form of spiritual practice and to accumulate merit. Spinning the wheel is believed to have the same spiritual benefits as verbally reciting the mantra. The use of prayer wheels is widespread in Tibetan Buddhism and has spread to other cultures.

How does the Buddhist Prayer Wheel benefit us?

The benefits associated with rotating the wheel are numerous. It promotes knowledge, compassion, and bodhicitta in the practitioner and improves siddhis (spiritual powers such as clairvoyance, precognition, etc.). The practitioner can repeat the mantra as often as possible while the wheel is rolling, maintaining a calm, meditative attitude. A Tibetan Buddhist tradition holds that after a practice session, one should dedicate any acquired merits to the benefit of all sentient beings. Then three times Om Ah Hum. This is usually among Tibetans after finishing any Buddhist practice, including the prayer wheel exercise.
