Traditional Tibetan Shakyamuni Thangka | Sacred Painting of the Enlightened One
Created in the traditional Karma Gadri style, this stunning Tibetan Shakyamuni Thangka is a hand-painted artwork on cotton canvas, featuring vibrant acrylic colors and 24K gold. It showcases meticulous blending that brings out rich, long-lasting hues. This thangka honors ancient techniques passed down through generations, executed with profound spiritual intention in each painting.
The thangka features a captivating depiction of Shakyamuni Buddha, the historical founder of Buddhism. He achieved enlightenment under the Bodhi tree, becoming a symbol of compassion, wisdom, and freedom from suffering. In the thangka, Shakyamuni performs the Bhumi-Sparsha Mudra, or Ground Touching Gesture, which invites the ground to witness his enlightenment. He sits elegantly on a lotus seat supported by a moon disc, representing transcendence and purity. His serene face, long earlobes, and radiant golden body reflect his spiritual awakening and rejection of materialistic attachments. The monk's robe and alms bowl embody simplicity and the monastic path, while the ushnisha, the crown-like bulge on his head, represents ultimate wisdom. As a profound spiritual symbol, this thangka is ideal for Buddhist altars, meditation spaces, or sacred art collections.
