About Our Product
This Tibetan Mahakala Locket Set features two intricately carved devotional pieces made from ethically sourced bone, each depicting a richly detailed Buddhist protective figure within an ornamental arched frame. Measuring approximately 5cm in height, these compact carvings showcase expressive faces, elaborate headdresses, flowing garments, and finely carved decorative borders. Their small size makes them suitable for wearing as personal amulets, incorporating into a sacred collection, or displaying as examples of traditional Himalayan bone carving.
The front surfaces reveal careful relief carving, with each figure presented against an open-backed frame surrounded by scrolling foliage and ornamental details. The expressive features and dynamic postures give the carvings a distinctly protective character, while the layered pedestal and surrounding motifs demonstrate the precision of the artisan's work. Natural variations in the bone, including subtle changes in tone and surface markings, contribute to the individual appearance of each piece.
Mahakala is widely revered in Tibetan Buddhism as a powerful protector of the Dharma and a guardian of practitioners. His wrathful appearance represents the forceful transformation of obstacles and harmful influences rather than ordinary anger. As a pair of devotional lockets, these carvings can serve as reminders of protection, courage, discipline, and commitment to spiritual practice. They are especially suited to collectors of Tibetan Buddhist artifacts, practitioners, and those who appreciate traditional Himalayan craftsmanship.
Introduction of Locket Set
Mahakala is a guardian deity in Mahayana Buddhism and across all Tibetan Buddhist schools. He manifests in various forms, each with unique attributes and characteristics. In some contexts, he is considered an emanation of distinct beings like Avalokitesvara or Chakrasamvara. Mahakala is typically depicted with a crown of five skulls, symbolizing the transmutation of the five kleshas (adverse afflictions) into the five pearls of wisdom.

The level of craftsmanship by the artisans with Evam Ratna is truly exceptional.. The photos on the website showcase these beautiful items, but the special quality of their presence is felt when beheld directly. When I opened the carefully constructed package and encountered the ghanta, vajra,, rupa, and damaru tassels directly, I was overjoyed. I could feel the heart and care that went into their creation.

Handcrafted Traditional Bhumba | Sacred Ritual Offering Vessel
Looks and feels great 👍
Really enjoyed my experience receiving our Tonka.. We were more than happy with how ours came out! You will be too...
The Manjushri statue I purchased is of very high quality and has tremendous presence on my altar, far exceeding my expectations. It was well packed and arrived surprisingly quickly. Evam Ratna kept me informed throughout the process and even shared additional photos before shipping to ensure I was aware that the statue had oxidized somewhat since the pictures on the site were taken (not an issue but really appreciate the transparency). Thanks again for the beautiful statue -- I'll be a frequent visitor to the website in the future!
The statue came in excellent condition! I was worried especially since I had it consecrated before shipping (which evamratna offers for a fee if you ask!) But the statue came perfectly. Also, it was way bigger than I anticipated which was a lovely surprise, because usually the statues come smaller than I thought when initially buying them. These statues are pricy, but I recommend having at least one in your collection if you can afford it. You’re also supporting local Nepalese craftsmen, and the price I find is reasonable for most people.
Beautiful statue!

I am truly satisfied with the purchase of this Buddhist Prayer Wheel. The beautiful embossed writing is Davanagari, the Sanskrit/Nepali alphabet also used in Tibet. The formula it reads is the classic mantra "Om Mani Padme Hum." This Prayer Wheel's unique feature is the inclusion of sacred figures that represent various aspects of spiritual life with precise meanings. The service I received was impeccable, attentive to my needs, punctual, and always very friendly. I thank Shreya for this attention. I recommend EvamRatna for the extraordinary workmanship of the items for sale. Kind Regards, Enrico Battistotti.
