About Our Product
This Tibetan Himalayan Butter Lamp Set includes two matching ritual lamps, each measuring 15 cm in height and 10.5 cm in diameter, with a 7.5 cm base and an inner depth of 5 cm. Each lamp weighs 0.38 kg, with a total set weight of 0.75 kg. Made from copper, the lamps have a warm polished surface with engraved floral patterns and raised bands that give the pair a traditional Himalayan appearance.
This Butter Lamp Set features a wide upper bowl with a gently flared rim, followed by engraved floral decoration around the outer surface. Raised metal bands separate the decorative sections and give the bowl a clear layered form. Below the bowl is a shaped central stem with several rounded and stepped sections decorated with fine carved lines and patterns. The lower part widens into a stable pedestal base finished with a smooth border. In Tibetan Buddhist tradition, butter lamps represent the light of wisdom that removes ignorance and supports the path toward enlightenment.
This Tibetan Himalayan Butter Lamp Set can be used for butter lamp offerings, Buddhist altar practice, prayer, meditation, monastery ceremonies, Dharma centers, temples, and home shrines. The matching pair can be placed together on an altar as a sacred light offering and as part of a traditional Buddhist ritual arrangement.
Introduction to Butter Lamp
The whole process of offering a butter lamp is also a very spiritual practice. The traditional practice of preparing a butter lamp starts by washing one’s hand, wearing a mask to protect from contaminating the butter lamp through one’s breath, making the wick out of pure cotton, and cleaning the chalices with a clean piece of cloth reserved for this or fresh mosses from the trees, which was commonly used in old times. The whole process is a meditative spiritual practice that engages a person physically and mentally if they know and practices it according to the norms.
