About Our Product

This Tibetan Buddhist Ritual Damaru is a handcrafted ceremonial drum made from red sandalwood, following the traditional hourglass-shaped design used in Vajrayana Buddhist practices. The body is carefully shaped from red sandalwood and finished with turquoise-colored edges, creating a distinctive appearance while preserving the traditional form of this sacred instrument. A patterned fabric band wraps around the center, adding traditional decorative detail, while the attached cords and bead beaters complete its ritual structure. The combination of natural wood craftsmanship and traditional ornamentation reflects the skill of Himalayan artisans in creating Buddhist practice objects.

In Tibetan Buddhism, this sacred drum is used during prayers, meditation sessions, and ritual ceremonies. Its two connected chambers symbolize the union of wisdom and compassion, while the rhythmic sound produced during practice represents the transmission of Dharma teachings and the understanding of impermanence. Traditionally played by rotating the wrist, the attached beads strike both sides of the drum, producing rhythmic sounds that accompany chanting, visualization practices, and Vajrayana rituals.

This Vajrayana Ritual Instrument is suitable for Buddhist practitioners, meditation spaces, altar collections, and collectors of Himalayan spiritual objects. Crafted from red sandalwood with traditional decorative elements, it represents the connection between ritual practice, symbolic meaning, and Himalayan craftsmanship. Whether used during ceremonies or preserved as part of a sacred collection, this traditional drum reflects the artistic heritage and spiritual traditions of Tibetan Buddhism.

Introduction of Damaru

A Chod drum, integral to the Chod spiritual practice in Tibetan Buddhism, is a unique and symbolic instrument. Also known as a damaru, this small, double-sided hand drum features a narrow waist that connects two drumheads. Its shape is often likened to an hourglass, embodying the union of wisdom and compassion. Used by Chod practitioners during ritualistic ceremonies, the drum's rhythmic beating is believed to connect with sacred energies, facilitating meditation and the realization of emptiness. With its ritualistic role, the Chod drum underscores the synthesis of sound, spirituality, and meditation within Tibetan Buddhist traditions.
