The Great Three Bodhisattvas Thangka | Wisdom, Compassion and Power
The Great Three Bodhisattvas (Manjushri, Avalokiteshvara, and Vajrapani) represent the fundamental principles of Mahayana Buddhism: wisdom, compassion, and enlightened action. These revered figures are exquisitely portrayed in this thangka, encouraging practitioners to uphold these virtues in both their daily lives and spiritual practice. As a guide to awareness, the artwork harmoniously demonstrates the unity of their heavenly attributes.
In the center, Manjushri, the Bodhisattva of Wisdom, wields a fiery sword to cut through ignorance while clutching a sacred scripture as a symbol of knowledge. Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Compassion, is seen sitting with a wish-fulfilling jewel and a lotus, exuding kindness and love beyond boundaries. With a vajra, Vajrapani, the Bodhisattva of Enlightened Action, is depicted, representing strength and resolve to conquer challenges. Their tranquil expressions and rich details of divine attributes make this thangka a significant addition to sacred collections and meditation areas, encouraging spiritual development and connection.
