About Our Product:
This Thang Tong Gyalpo Guru Statue is a finely crafted representation of the legendary Tibetan Buddhist master, yogi, engineer, and artist Thang Tong Gyalpo. Made from an oxidized copper body with detailed acrylic color work, the statue captures his distinctive appearance with a long white beard, flowing hair, expressive facial features, and traditional robes. The dark copper finish enhances the depth of the carving, while the carefully applied colors bring attention to the details of his face, garments, and seated posture.
Thang Tong Gyalpo is depicted seated on a lotus pedestal in a meditative posture, wearing his characteristic appearance as a great realized master. His right hand extends downward while his left hand holds a vajra near his heart, symbolizing spiritual realization, wisdom, and the indestructible nature of enlightened awareness. The detailed robe patterns, long flowing hair, beard, and decorated lotus base reflect the traditional iconography associated with this important figure in Tibetan Buddhism. Revered as a master of realization and innovation, Thang Tong Gyalpo is also remembered for his contributions to Tibetan culture, including the creation of iron chain suspension bridges and the tradition of Ache Lhamo opera.
This Buddhist master sculpture is suitable for Buddhist altars, meditation spaces, collections, and practitioners who appreciate representations of important lineage holders. Crafted using machine-made techniques with detailed finishing, this compact statue preserves the symbolic presence of Thang Tong Gyalpo while offering a meaningful addition to personal shrines and spiritual collections. It reflects the connection between Buddhist teachings, master lineages, and the artistic traditions of Himalayan craftsmanship.
Introduction to Thang Tong Gyalpo:
Thang Tong Gyalpo (1385–1464), also known as the “Iron Bridge Builder,” was a legendary Tibetan yogi, engineer, physician, blacksmith, and spiritual master. He is considered a great siddha (realized being) and is especially revered in the Nyingma and Drukpa Kagyu traditions of Tibetan Buddhism.
How do you take care of your statues?
• Place them at room temperature, avoiding direct sunlight.
• Make sure that the area where your statue is placed is entirely free of moisture and dust.
• Place it at the highest place on your altar after being consecrated by a Lama/monks. The best practice is to keep them covered inside a
glass cabinet.
• Do not use your bare hands or any objects with a rough surface to wipe the face. Directly touching the face with the bare hand can
smudge the face, leaving scratches.
