In the eighth century, after conquering several challenges and defeating adversarial forces, Guru Rinpoche—also called Padmasambhava—led the establishment of Buddhism in Tibet. Frequently seen clutching a skull cup and a vajra, he is revered for his eight incarnations, each of which symbolizes a distinct facet of his enlightened pursuits. His consort, Yeshe Tsogyal, has documented his teachings on hidden treasures, which maintain his legacy and continue to guide practitioners.
