About Our Product:
This handcrafted Sleeping Buddha statue brings a profound sense of tranquility and spiritual repose into any sacred space. Made in Nepal by master artisans, it measures 3.3”/8.5cm in height with a 6.3”/16cm base and weighs 0.82 kg. Crafted from an oxidized copper body, the statue depicts the historical Buddha resting gracefully on his right side in his final earthly transition, radiating peace for meditation, reflection, and altar display.
Representing the sacred state of Parinirvana, the reclining posture of the Buddha symbolizes the ultimate release from the cycle of rebirth, suffering, and worldly attachment. Resting gracefully on his right side, the Buddha’s calm body posture reflects complete serenity, while the gentle placement of the right hand beneath the head signifies supreme comfort, peace, and absolute detachment from earthly anxieties. His composed facial expression represents a mind fully liberated from fear, desire, and confusion, showing the final passing of the enlightened one beyond ordinary existence. Having achieved complete enlightenment, this representation reminds us of our own innate potential for inner stillness, healing, acceptance, and quiet wisdom.
In Buddhist tradition, the Sleeping or Reclining Buddha represents Shakyamuni Buddha during his last illness, just before he entered into Parinirvana—the final liberation from Samsara. Rather than depicting physical decline, the posture conveys supreme composure, compassion, and ultimate spiritual realization. This iconography serves as a foundational teaching on impermanence, urging practitioners to live diligently and maintain equanimity amidst life's inevitable changes.
