About Our Ritual Item :

This Silver Buddhist Ritual Sword was crafted in 2010 by master artisan Dharmaraj Shakya in Patan, whose 45 years of experience are rooted in traditional Newar craftsmanship. Measuring 77 cm in height and 7.5 cm in width, with a weight of 1.05 kg, the sword combines wood, leather, iron, 90% silver, and brass inlay. Its long scabbard is covered with richly detailed silver ornamentation, featuring intricate floral and scrolling motifs that extend along the length of the piece. The handle is finished with carefully worked silver and brass decoration, while the leather-covered grip provides a contrasting dark surface within the ornate construction.

The sword displays an elaborate combination of silverwork, brass inlay, leather, and traditional metal construction. The upper handle features a distinctive broad decorative finial with intricate floral and scrolling patterns, while the guard is formed with layered silver ornamentation. The scabbard carries continuous decorative borders and finely worked motifs, creating a balanced composition from the handle to the rounded end. The combination of precious metal detailing and traditional materials reflects the specialized craftsmanship of Newar artisans, where ornamental metalwork is integrated into sacred and ceremonial objects.

The Phurba is the physical manifestation of the Vajrakila Buddha, who has the ability to destroy all evil on the earth. Its ceremonial usage is first recorded in the Vajrakilaya Tantra, an eighth-century or older Vajrayana work.
