Description
Traditionally Hand-Painted Shakyapa Mahakala Buddhism Thangka
Shakyapa Mahakala Buddhism, the Sakya sect's dharma defender (guardian), is portrayed in this thangka. He is seen here with a vajrahopper, a skull bowl, and a wooden gong (Gandhi). The wooden Gandhi, representing his promise to safeguard the monastic community, is used to call the monks and nuns in the monasteries. All Sakya practitioners in the Himalayan region honor him and hold him in their hearts. The Mahakala is in the center while other deities surround him. We have artistically highlighted the halo flames of every deity. We used acrylic paints and genuine 24K gold on the cotton canvas to complete the art.

Note: Sakya Mahakala Thangka is an original painting from Enlightenment Studio located at Boudha Stupa.
Otherwise known as Gonpo Panjaranatha, he was already popular among the Ningmapa lamas. He probably occupied a central position among Indian experts as the guardian and archetype of a Buddhist deity. His Panjaranatha form was essential to the Sakya Order. As a guardian(Dharmapala), Mahakala guards the Dharma teachings, particularly about the Hevajra Tantra, the Vajra Panjara tantra, and the Paramasuka Chakrasamvara tantra. He typically serves advanced Buddhist practitioners, often known as tantric or adept, in their quest for enlightenment. This Mahakala thangka will be an ideal gift for practitioners!
