About Our Product
This Sacred Tibetan Ritual Dagger measures 36.5cm in height, 4.5cm in length, and 4.5cm in width, with a weight of 0.98 kg. Crafted from iron and brass, this Vajrayana Phurba features a distinctive elongated form with a detailed wrathful deity face, ornate handle, and traditional three sided blade. The combination of dark iron tones and brass embellishments creates a unique ritual artifact reflecting traditional Himalayan craftsmanship.
This Phurba features a fierce deity face at the upper section, surrounded by intricate ornamental carvings and symbolic details. The handle showcases multiple openwork circular sections with engraved patterns, connecting the decorated upper portion with the lower blade. The pointed three sided blade represents the traditional Phurba form, while the wrathful expression symbolizes the transformation of obstacles and the protective power of enlightened wisdom. The detailed carvings, layered sections, and contrasting iron and brass elements highlight the skilled artistry behind this sacred object.
This ritual Phurba can be displayed on a Buddhist altar, meditation space, or within a collection of Himalayan ritual artifacts. Traditionally associated with Vajrayana practices, it represents spiritual discipline, protection, and the ability to overcome inner and outer challenges through awakened awareness. Its rare design and detailed craftsmanship make it a meaningful piece for collectors and practitioners of Buddhist sacred art.
Introduction of Phurba
The ceremonial dagger (Sanskrit: Kila; Tibetan: phurba) is essential for expelling evil and is considered particularly effective in neutralizing the forces obstructing Tantric Buddhist practice. It has ancient origins, first appearing in the Indian Rig Veda as the core blade of the vajra used by Indra to destroy the primordial cosmic snake Vritra. Kila, derived from Sanskrit, was most likely associated with Vedic sacrifices. Meditation on the Vajrakila Tantra, an early Indian scripture first promoted in Tibet in the eighth century by Padmasambhava, one of the founding teachers of Tibetan Buddhism, is used to invoke the three-headed Vajrakila Buddha.
