About Our Product

This Sacred Descent From Heaven Stupa is a handcrafted Buddhist altar sculpture made from copper and finished with 24K gold plating and acrylic color. It represents the Descent From Heaven Stupa, one of the traditional forms of Buddhist stupas, with a multi-tiered base, central structure, ornamental upper section, and finely decorated architectural details.

The lower portion features several stepped tiers with engraved borders and ornamental motifs, supporting the main body of the stupa. At the center is an arched niche framed by scrolling designs, followed by the upper structure with decorative side elements and a ribbed central section. The top is completed with layered ornamental forms and a finial. Gold plating emphasizes the carved patterns throughout the base, niche, architectural sections, and decorative elements.

The Descent From Heaven Stupa is associated with the Buddha's return from the heavenly realm after teaching the Dharma there. In Buddhist tradition, this event is commemorated as the Buddha's descent from the realm of the gods, and the corresponding stupa form serves as a representation of this significant episode. This sculpture is suitable for Buddhist altars, home shrines, meditation spaces, Dharma centers, and collections of traditional Buddhist artwork.

Introduction of Descent from Heaven Stupa

A stupa is a sacred structure in Tibetan Buddhism, designed to hold and protect relics associated with enlightened beings. These stupas are typically built in a domed shape, with a base, middle section, and top, often adorned with decorative elements such as carvings, paintings, and statues. The base represents stability and the earth element, the middle signifies the balance between wisdom and compassion, and the top, where a pole rises from the apex surrounded by a small fence, symbolizes the path to enlightenment, with the pole itself representing the mind's journey towards awakening. Prior to the advent of Buddhism, great teachers were interred in mounds, leading to these structures being referred to as 'chorten' in Tibet. Chortens are utilized for various purposes, including as shrines for prayer, offerings, and meditation, as well as to commemorate significant events or individuals within the Buddhist tradition. They serve as powerful reminders of the Buddha's teachings and the potential for enlightenment inherent in all individuals.
