This Stupa of Great Miracles features detailed carvings from top to bottom. At the top, a crescent shaped ornament sits above the layered finial. Below it is the tall central section with raised horizontal lines and two curved decorative sides. Moving down, the middle section has a small arched frame filled with scroll patterns and a sacred image in the center. Below this, several wide steps form the main body of the stupa, with each level decorated with carved borders and floral designs. The lower section has more raised patterns and a wide decorated base that supports the entire stupa. From the top ornament to the bottom base, each part is carefully carved and finished with 24K gold plating, showing traditional Himalayan Buddhist craftsmanship.

This Buddhist altar stupa is suitable for a Buddhist shrine, meditation room, prayer space, Dharma center, or sacred collection. It can be placed on an altar as a focus for prayer and meditation. Its traditional design also brings a peaceful spiritual presence to a sacred space.

Introduction of Stupa

Before Buddhism, great teachers were buried in mounds. Some were cremated, but sometimes they were buried in a seated, meditative position. The mound of earth covered them up. Thus, the domed shape of the stupa came to represent a person seated in meditation, much as the Buddha was when he achieved Enlightenment and knowledge of the Four Noble Truths. The base of the stupa represents his crossed legs as he sat in a meditative pose. The middle portion is the Buddha’s body, and the top of the mound, where a pole rises from the apex surrounded by a small fence, represents his head. Before images of the human Buddha were created, reliefs often depicted practitioners demonstrating devotion to a stupa.
