Religious Green Tara Thangka
Introduction To The Thangka :
According to folklore, Chenrezi, the Bodhisattva of Compassion, is the source of Tara. Chenrezi once wept two tears because he was so affected by the suffering of every conscious person. His right eye tear transformed into Tara's green form, while his left eye tear transformed into her white form.
Green Tara wears silken outfits and jeweled accessories. The location of the legs is the primary iconographic distinction between the white Tara and the green Tara. With one leg brought towards her and the other resting on a lotus blossom springing from the pedestal, Green Tara is seated in a relaxed position. Her hands are holding the stems of a blue lotus in the mudra of perfect giving, with a serene smile on her face.
