Bodhisattva Red Tara Thangka, Tibetan Paintings
The thangka of Red Tara, in her red appearance, seated on a lotus seat upon a giant leaf that seems to be floating on the water. In Tibetan Buddhism, Tara is a highly prominent person. She is regarded as the 'saviouress' and is also said to be the personification of all Buddhas' actions. According to the Tara Tantras, she was a young Bodhisattva princess who lived in a separate planet system in the ancient past. Yeshe Dawa was her name, and she had great confidence in the Buddha of that world system, making massive gifts to him. She also went to get lectures and to do profound meditations. She once heard rare teaching on the formation of Bodhicitta, a Bodhisattva's immensely compassionate mental state.
