Namtoshe Deity Metal Thangka for Altar Display
About Our Thangka:
The Namtoshe Deity Metal Thangka is skillfully created on an oxidized copper body, adorned with electro gold plating, and set with artificial coral and turquoise stones. It is 36 cm high and 35.5 cm wide, weighing 1.02 kilogram. This thangka is an appealing sculpture because to its blend of metalwork and colorful stone inlays, making it suitable for both spiritual rituals and artistic display in holy or personal settings.
Namtoshe, also known as Vaishravana, is the riches deity and northern protector. He is shown seated majestically, clutching a mangusta (mongoose) that spits jewels, representing abundance and the spread of material prosperity. In his other hand, he holds a victory banner, symbolizing his involvement in overcoming hurdles. His furious look and aristocratic clothes indicate both his protective instincts and his command of money. The gold-plated details emphasize his almighty authority, and the coral and turquoise stones represent spiritual wealth and protection. This thangka represents abundance, victory, and protection, reminding us of the significance of balancing material well-being with spiritual growth.
Introduction To Metal Thangka :
A metal thangka is a type of thangka painting that is made on a metal surface rather than on traditional canvas or paper. Metal thangkas are often made using copper, brass, or silver and are usually decorated with intricate designs and Buddhist iconography using a technique called repoussé. This involves hammering the metal from the reverse side to create a raised relief image on the front. Metal thangkas are known for their durability and are often used in ritual contexts or as decorative pieces in Buddhist homes and temples. They are particularly common in Tibet, where they have been produced for centuries.
