This Namo Altar Shakyamuni Buddha Statue is a finely handcrafted Buddhist sculpture created in 2022 by artist Amir Shakya. The statue features a copper body with 24K gold plating and detailed acrylic color work, showcasing traditional Himalayan craftsmanship through its carefully shaped form, ornamental details, and serene expression. The combination of gilded surfaces, painted accents, and intricate carving highlights the artistic skill involved in creating sacred Buddhist sculptures.
The statue depicts Shakyamuni Buddha, the historical Buddha, seated in a meditative posture with his right hand displaying the Bhumisparsha Mudra, the gesture of touching the earth that represents the moment of his enlightenment and his calling the earth as witness. His left hand rests in the meditation posture while holding the alms bowl, symbolizing inner concentration, wisdom, and the balanced path of practice. The peaceful facial expression, monastic robes, ushnisha, and lotus seat reflect the traditional iconography of the Buddha of Enlightenment.

Siddhartha Gautama was raised as a king by his royal father's wishes and was born the crown prince of the mighty Shakya Kingdom. When he was about 29 years old, he learned of people's immense suffering. He renounced his palatial lifestyle, lavish clothing, and fortune to discover the source of the anguish and find a cure. After over six years of study, self-denial, and tremendous concentration, he finally achieved his objective. He had attained nirvana (a Buddha). He then asserted that he had visited a deer park outside Varanasi, India's Sarnath (Benares).

During consecration, these sacred items are placed inside and blessed through traditional rituals performed by the ordained monks. There is a fee for this service, offered as a respectful contribution to the monastery.
