About Our Product

This Meditation Shrine Stupa is a finely handcrafted Buddhist sacred object created from an oxidized copper body, featuring a traditional stupa structure with detailed architectural elements and symbolic carvings. The sculpture showcases multiple tiers, including a decorated base, lotus-inspired sections, a rounded dome, and a rising spire representing the traditional elements of a Buddhist chorten. The dark oxidized copper finish enhances the depth of the carvings, giving the piece an antique appearance while highlighting the refined craftsmanship of Himalayan metalwork.

At the center of the stupa, a sacred deity figure is carved inside a shrine niche, creating a unique combination of stupa architecture and devotional imagery. The enclosed figure represents the presence of awakened wisdom within the sacred structure, while the surrounding arched frame and decorative carvings enhance the spiritual character of the piece. Introduction of Stupa

Historically, before Buddhism, great teachers were buried in mounds. While some were cremated, others were sometimes interred in a seated, meditative position, covered by a mound of earth. Consequently, the domed shape of the stupa came to represent a person seated in meditation, much like the Buddha when he attained Enlightenment and understood the Four Noble Truths. The base of the stupa represents his crossed legs in a meditative pose, the middle portion signifies the Buddha’s body, and the top of the mound, where a pole rises from the apex surrounded by a small fence, represents his head. Prior to the creation of human Buddha images, reliefs often depicted practitioners demonstrating devotion to a stupa.
