Medicine Buddha (Sanskrit: Bhaishajyaguru) is also known as Vaidurya Prabha Raja, the 'King of Sapphire Light. ' His right hand is in the mudra of supreme generosity, holding an arura known as the myrobalan plant, and his left hand is in meditative equipoise, holding a bowl of nectar.
In Mahayana Buddhism, Medicine Buddha, also known as Bhaisajyaguru, is revered as a potent source of healing and alleviation from suffering. He represents the healing part of the Buddha's teachings, delivering spiritual treatments for both physical and mental diseases. He is sometimes represented holding a medicine bowl. His teachings emphasize healing via wisdom, compassion, and ethical behavior. This statue serves as a daily reminder of mindfulness's healing power and the ability to foster wellbeing in all parts of life.
Introduction to Shayamuni Buddha:
Shakyamuni Buddha, once Prince Siddhartha of the Shakya clan, left behind his royal comforts to seek a more profound truth beyond the joys and sorrows of the world. Through intense meditation and ascetic practice beneath the Bodhi tree, he attained enlightenment and became the Buddha—the Awakened One. Devoted to sharing the path to liberation, he taught the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path. Shakyamuni symbolizes the potential for awakening in everyone, embodying wisdom that conquers ignorance and fosters serene detachment. His enduring presence invites us to cultivate compassion and mindfulness, and to embark on a transformative journey within ourselves.
How do you take care of your statues?
• Place them at room temperature, avoiding direct sunlight.
• Make sure that the area where your statue is placed is entirely free of moisture and dust.
• Place it at the highest place on your altar after being consecrated by a Lama/monks. The best practice is to keep them covered inside a glass cabinet.
• Do not use your bare hands or any objects with a rough surface to wipe the face. Directly touching objects with the bare hand can smudge the face, leaving scratches.
