The Throne of Dharma, Historical Shakyamuni Buddha | Exclusive 24K Gold Thangka
The historical Shakyamuni Buddha is depicted in this exquisite thangka, a true masterpiece of Tibetan sacred art. Created on high-quality cotton canvas, it has genuine 24K gold and acrylic colors that give the divine composition depth and luminosity. The deep black background and the gold accents create a striking contrast, signifying the light of wisdom pursued away from the darkness of ignorance. Shakyamuni Buddha is regarded as the founder of Buddhism and the embodiment of ultimate enlightenment. He attained supreme wisdom and guided countless beings toward liberation.
Seated in the vajra posture, Shakyamuni Buddha rests gracefully on an ornate golden throne, signifying his transcendence over suffering and worldly existence. His left-hand holds a begging bowl, symbolizing purity and the core of dharma, while his right-hand reaches downward in the Bhumisparsha Mudra (earth-touching gesture), recalling the moment of his enlightenment beneath the Bodhi tree. The ornate throne is adorned with designs of elephants, religious symbols, Makara, and Garuda, the celestial protector. Each element represents deep protection, wisdom, and strength, reinforcing the unshakable nature of Buddha’s teachings. Flanking him are his two principal disciples, renowned for wisdom and supernatural abilities.
Surrounding the central figure are powerful, enlightened deities, each enriching the thangka’s spiritual depth. Medicine Buddha radiates healing and protection, while Amitayus and Amitabha Buddha bestow longevity and spiritual well-being. Chenrezig and Manjushri illuminate the path of compassion and wisdom, while Green Tara and Namtoshe (Vaishravana) symbolize protection and prosperity. Vajrapani embodies Buddha’s power, and Vajrasattva, with his consort, represents purification and the union of wisdom and method.
