About Our Product
This Himalayan Sacred Ritual Phurba is a handcrafted bronze ritual dagger measuring 25.5cm in height, 4cm in length, and 4cm in width, with a weight of 0.56 kg. Made from bronze, this traditional Vajrayana ritual object features a three sided blade, an intricately carved handle, and a detailed upper section with a wrathful deity face. The aged bronze appearance and sculpted details reflect the traditional craftsmanship preserved in Himalayan Buddhist ritual art.
The Phurba features a carefully carved handle with a fierce deity face at the upper section, surrounded by ornamental details and layered decorative elements. The central grip displays elongated carved patterns, while the lower section transitions into a pointed three sided blade associated with the traditional form of the phurba. The upper section includes a wrathful face representing protective energy and the power to overcome obstacles, while the carved knot like patterns and detailed ornaments enhance the symbolic meaning of the ritual object. The detailed facial expression, sculpted ornaments, and engraved surface highlight the sacred design and skilled metalwork involved in creating this Himalayan ritual tool.
This Vajrayana Phurba is a traditional ritual instrument associated with Buddhist tantric practices and symbolizes the transformation of obstacles, the stability of spiritual practice, and the overcoming of negative influences. Used in ceremonial settings, meditation practices, and spiritual collections, this handcrafted phurba represents focused awareness, inner strength, and the profound symbolism found in Himalayan Buddhist traditions.
Introduction of Phurba
The ceremonial dagger (Sanskrit: Kila; Tibetan: phurba) is essential for expelling evil and is considered particularly effective in neutralizing the forces obstructing Tantric Buddhist practice. It has ancient origins, first appearing in the Indian Rig Veda as the core blade of the vajra used by Indra to destroy the primordial cosmic snake Vritra. Kila, derived from Sanskrit, was most likely associated with Vedic sacrifices. Meditation on the Vajrakila Tantra, an early Indian scripture first promoted in Tibet in the eighth century by Padmasambhava, one of the founding teachers of Tibetan Buddhism, is used to invoke the three-headed Vajrakila Buddha.
