About Our Product
This Himalayan Buddhist Altar Phurba measures 23cm in height, 3.5cm in length, and 2.5cm in width, with a weight of 0.3 kg. Crafted from bronze and made in 2022, this traditional ritual dagger reflects the ancient artistry of Himalayan Buddhist craftsmanship. The Phurba, also known as Kila, is a sacred Vajrayana object traditionally associated with spiritual practices, transformation, and the removal of obstacles.
This Buddhist Phurba features a finely carved upper section with a detailed deity face, ornamental patterns, and a decorated handle that transitions into a pointed three-sided blade. The central section displays carefully shaped designs that connect the symbolic upper form with the ritual dagger below. The bronze surface carries an aged appearance that highlights the handcrafted character of the piece, while the pointed blade represents the cutting through of ignorance, confusion, and obstacles on the spiritual path. Every detail, from the carved face to the engraved patterns along the shaft, reflects traditional Himalayan metalwork.
This handcrafted Himalayan Phurba is suitable for Buddhist altars, Vajrayana collections, meditation spaces, and spiritual displays. Traditionally used as a ritual object in Tibetan Buddhist practices, the Phurba represents transformation, protection, and the power of enlightened activity. Created in 2022, this bronze artifact preserves the traditional symbolism and artistic heritage of Himalayan ritual craftsmanship.
Introduction of Phurba
The ceremonial dagger (Sanskrit: Kila; Tibetan: phurba) is essential for expelling evil and is considered particularly effective in neutralizing the forces obstructing Tantric Buddhist practice. It has ancient origins, first appearing in the Indian Rig Veda as the core blade of the vajra used by Indra to destroy the primordial cosmic snake Vritra. Kila, derived from Sanskrit, was most likely associated with Vedic sacrifices. Meditation on the Vajrakila Tantra, an early Indian scripture first promoted in Tibet in the eighth century by Padmasambhava, one of the founding teachers of Tibetan Buddhism, is used to invoke the three-headed Vajrakila Buddha.
