Tibetan Thangka of Hevajra with the 8 Dakinis, Vajrayana Buddhist Art
Hevajra with consort Nairatyma is the main Yidam in Vajrayana Buddhism and the meditation deity of the Anuttarayoga (highest class) classification Buddhist Tantra. He is portrayed embracing his consort Vajra Nairatmya. Surrounding the Hevajra are the eight Dakinis, each of them having one face and two hands holding various elements, adorned with bone ornaments and standing upon corpses.
At the top center is the primordial Buddha, Vajradhara holding Vajra and bell at his heart level. On the top right is Mahasiddha Virupa and Sanchen Kunga Nyingpo on his top left.On the bottom center is the Panjarnata Mahakala who is the protector of the Shri Hevajra cycle of Tantra. Vajra Panjara means the Vajra enclosure, egg-shaped and created from vajra scepters large and small, all sizes, surrounding a Tantric Buddhist mandala.

This Hevajra initiation is essentially important for people who wish to practice Vajrayana seriously and develop a deep connection to the Dharma. The Hevajra Tantra is the tantra with the nature of method and wisdom. The syllable he is the great compassion and Vajra means wisdom.
