This Handmade Siddhartha Gautama Buddha Statue is crafted from a copper body with 24K gold plating and detailed acrylic painting, measuring 31cm in height, 20.5cm in length, and 15cm in width, with a weight of 3.09 kg. Representing Shakyamuni Buddha, the historical founder of Buddhism, this traditional Himalayan sculpture features a peaceful seated posture, golden facial features, and beautifully painted reddish-brown monastic robes. The 24K gold plating highlights the Buddha's face, chest, right arm, and selected areas of the garments, while the acrylic painting creates a balanced contrast between the golden surface and darker robes. Fine craftsmanship is visible in the carefully shaped facial features, textured hair curls, robe folds, and decorative lotus pedestal, reflecting the traditional artistry of Himalayan Buddhist sculpture.
This statue features Shakyamuni Buddha seated in the vajra posture upon a beautifully carved lotus throne, representing stability, meditation, and spiritual awakening. His right hand extends downward in Bhumisparsha Mudra, the earth-touching gesture, symbolizing the moment he called the earth to witness his enlightenment beneath the Bodhi tree. His left hand rests in his lap in Dhyana Mudra, supporting a traditional alms bowl associated with monastic discipline, simplicity, and the Buddhist path. His serene golden face displays gently lowered eyes, softly arched eyebrows, elongated earlobes, and a subtle urna between the eyebrows, representing spiritual insight and awakened wisdom. The head is adorned with tightly arranged dark blue hair curls rising into a prominent ushnisha, symbolizing the Buddha's enlightened wisdom. His reddish-brown monastic robes drape naturally across the left shoulder and body, with carefully defined golden borders and flowing folds. The circular lotus pedestal features raised petals highlighted with gold accents, completing the traditional iconographic representation of the historical Buddha.
In Buddhism, Siddhartha Gautama is revered as the awakened teacher who attained enlightenment after overcoming ignorance, attachment, and suffering. His teachings on the Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path guide practitioners toward wisdom, ethical conduct, compassion, and liberation. The earth-touching mudra recalls his victory over Mara and the realization of enlightenment, while the meditation gesture represents concentration and inner awareness. The lotus throne symbolizes purity and spiritual awakening, reflecting the possibility of attaining wisdom while living within the conditions of the world. Introduction of Shakyamuni Buddha
Siddhartha Gautama was raised as a king by his royal father's wishes and was born the crown prince of the mighty Shakya Kingdom. When he was about 29 years old, he learned of people's immense suffering. He renounced his palatial lifestyle, lavish clothing, and fortune to discover the source of the anguish and find a cure. After over six years of study, self-denial, and tremendous concentration, he finally achieved his objective. He had attained nirvana (a Buddha). He then asserted that he had visited a deer park outside Varanasi, India's Sarnath (Benares).

The level of craftsmanship by the artisans with Evam Ratna is truly exceptional.. The photos on the website showcase these beautiful items, but the special quality of their presence is felt when beheld directly. When I opened the carefully constructed package and encountered the ghanta, vajra,, rupa, and damaru tassels directly, I was overjoyed. I could feel the heart and care that went into their creation.

The Manjushri statue I purchased is of very high quality and has tremendous presence on my altar, far exceeding my expectations. It was well packed and arrived surprisingly quickly. Evam Ratna kept me informed throughout the process and even shared additional photos before shipping to ensure I was aware that the statue had oxidized somewhat since the pictures on the site were taken (not an issue but really appreciate the transparency). Thanks again for the beautiful statue -- I'll be a frequent visitor to the website in the future!
The statue came in excellent condition! I was worried especially since I had it consecrated before shipping (which evamratna offers for a fee if you ask!) But the statue came perfectly. Also, it was way bigger than I anticipated which was a lovely surprise, because usually the statues come smaller than I thought when initially buying them. These statues are pricy, but I recommend having at least one in your collection if you can afford it. You’re also supporting local Nepalese craftsmen, and the price I find is reasonable for most people.
