About Our Statue:

This Mitrugpa Statue is a striking representation of the revered deity, meticulously handcrafted from copper and meticulously plated with 24K gold and electro silver. Standing at 36cm in height and 26cm in width, and weighing 3.38 kg, this statue showcases a divine blend of artistry and spiritual symbolism. Mitrugpa, known for his compassionate and protective qualities, is beautifully depicted in this intricate statue, making it a powerful addition to any Buddhist altar, meditation space, or sacred room.

Mitrupa Buddha is depicted seated in vajrāsana, the meditative posture of unshakable stability, upon a moon disc lotus base, symbolizing purity and the awakened mind. His right hand performs the bhūmisparśa mudrā, the earth-touching gesture that signifies his moment of enlightenment and his triumph over ignorance. In his left hand, he holds an upright vajra, a powerful symbol of indestructible wisdom (vajra-jñāna) and the unbreakable nature of the awakened mind. Draped in a simple monastic robe, he embodies renunciation, inner discipline, and the clarity of the realized path.

Akshobhya Buddha stands out as a profound figure of serenity within the vast fabric of Buddhist teachings. He is said to live in the eastern region of Abhirati and embodies the mirror-like insight that reflects things precisely as they are, undistorted by the distortions of rage or hatred. Akshobya Buddha emphasizes his devotion to enlightenment with his 'touch-the-earth' gesture, offering practitioners a path to tranquility and clear insight.

Introduction to Mitrupa:

Mitrupa was a prominent figure in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition and one of the early Indian masters who played a key role in the development of the Madhyamaka (Middle Way) philosophy. A disciple of Nagarjuna, Mitrupa is best known for his teachings on emptiness and non-duality, which laid the foundation for much of Tibetan Buddhist thought. He was revered not only for his profound wisdom but also for his compassionate approach to teaching, emphasizing the importance of meditation and mindfulness in achieving enlightenment. His legacy continues to influence Tibetan Buddhism, particularly in the practices of Dzogchen and Madhyamaka.
