Karmapa is the incarnation of all Buddha actions or the one who engages in Buddha activity. Great enlightened Buddhist masters are said to be able to consciously control their reincarnation in the Tibetan tradition, allowing them to continue their work for the benefit of all sentient beings. The appearance of a Buddhist master, known as the Karmapa, had been foretold by the historical Buddha Shakyamuni and the renowned Indian tantric master, Guru Padmasambhava, before the birth of the first Karmapa.
