About Our Product
This Handcrafted Chupsel Mala Counter is a traditional Buddhist counting accessory designed to help practitioners keep track of mantra recitations and prayer cycles. Made from silver, it features a series of small silver counting beads connected to a red cord, with a decorative silver terminal element and multicolored hanging threads at the lower end. The combination of the polished silver beads, red cord, and colorful tassel gives the counter a traditional Himalayan Buddhist appearance while keeping its compact form suitable for use alongside a prayer mala.
A Chupsel (mala counter) is used during Buddhist mantra practice to keep an organized count of recitations. After completing a full cycle of a mala, the practitioner moves a counter bead to record that completed round. The counting system allows practitioners to keep track of larger numbers of recitations by progressing through the beads in sequence. Traditionally, mala counters are used together with a 108-bead mala and can help practitioners maintain an accurate count when undertaking extended mantra practices, meditation sessions, or recitation commitments.
This Silver Mala Counter is suitable for Buddhist prayer practice, mantra recitation, meditation, Vajrayana practice, Buddhist altars, and spiritual collections. Its lightweight construction and compact 13cm form make it convenient to keep with a mala or prayer set. The silver beads, red cord, decorative element, and multicolored tassel combine practical counting functionality with the traditional visual character of Himalayan Buddhist ritual accessories.
Introduction of Chupsel
A Buddhist Chupsel (Mala Counter) is a traditional tool used in Tibetan and Vajrayana practices to accurately track mantra recitations. A complete Mala cycle represents 100 mantra repetitions, with eight extra beads serving as a safeguard against counting mistakes. After each cycle, one counter bead is moved on side A; after ten cycles (1,000 mantras), the beads are reset and one bead on side B is moved to mark the completion of one thousand recitations. This method allows practitioners to keep track of large mantra accumulation goals, such as ten thousand or more repetitions.
