About Our Product

This Handcrafted Buddhist Damaru for Ceremonies measures 6.5cm in height and 11cm in width, with a weight of 0.22 kg. Crafted with silver, coral, turquoise, and leather, this ritual drum features an elaborate double-sided body covered with raised ornamental metalwork. The exterior is densely decorated with repeating floral and circular motifs, while colorful turquoise and coral accents add contrast to the darkened silver surface. The combination of detailed metalwork, gemstone decoration, leather elements, and traditional drum construction gives the piece a highly distinctive ceremonial character.

The drum consists of two rounded sides joined at the center, with decorated silver surfaces extending around both sections. Turquoise and coral elements are positioned along the central connection, while leather cords extend outward and terminate in colorful rounded beaters. The inner faces of the drum are comparatively simple, with the visible drum surfaces contrasting against the extensively ornamented exterior. The raised relief patterns cover much of the silver surface, including layered borders, floral motifs, and repeating decorative details that emphasize the craftsmanship of the piece.

The damaru is an important ritual instrument in Vajrayana Buddhist practice and is traditionally used during prayers, meditation, ceremonies, and ritual practices. Its compact double-sided form allows it to be held during ritual use, while the decorated exterior makes this example equally distinctive as a piece of traditional Himalayan ritual art. This Handcrafted Buddhist Damaru for Rituals is suitable for Buddhist altars, meditation spaces, Dharma centers, monasteries, ritual collections, or collectors of Himalayan Buddhist instruments.

A Chod drum, essential to the Chod spiritual practice in Tibetan Buddhism, is a unique and symbolic instrument. Also known as a damaru, this small, double-sided hand drum has a narrow waist connecting two drumheads. Its shape is often likened to an hourglass, embodying the union of wisdom and compassion. Used by Chod practitioners during ritualistic ceremonies, the drum's rhythmic beating is believed to connect with sacred energies, facilitating meditation and the realization of emptiness. The Chod drum's ritualistic role highlights its spiritual significance within Tibetan Buddhist traditions.
