It is embellished with artificial turquoise and coral stones, which, according to Tibetan tradition, are believed to possess healing and protective energies. Introduction To Treasure Box :
In Buddhism, it is said that the rationale for hiding treasures was formulated when Padmasambhava discerned the future, a time when Tibetans would need unique teachings to guide them through specific difficult periods. Therefore, he devised unique Buddhist practices and scriptures for those times and established the circumstances for these teachings to be revealed at the right moment. This involved designating some of his disciples to reveal those teachings in a future lifetime. Padmasambhava then uttered an empowering prophecy about the future revelation and proceeded to hide the teachings so that they would not be available until the proper, prophesied moment.
Today, the treasure box is used for various purposes. One can use the Treasure Box to set up and do the meditation, or use it for decorative purposes. Sometimes, they contain different chambers for specific things.
