About our Thangka
Shakyamuni Buddha, also known as Siddhartha Gautama, founded Buddhism. Born into a royal family in ancient India, he renounced his princely life to seek enlightenment. After years of spiritual practice, he achieved enlightenment under a Bodhi tree and became the "Awakened One." His teachings on compassion, mindfulness, and suffering have profoundly influenced millions worldwide, leading them to inner peace and enlightenment.
This Shakyamuni Buddha Thangka shows Siddhartha Gautama's enlightened form. The painting shows Shakyamuni Buddha sitting on a lotus seat, exuding spiritual wisdom and compassion. His right hand touches the ground, signifying enlightenment, while his left hand rests in the dhyana mudra, representing intense concentration. This Shakyamuni Thangka encourages practitioners to meditate and devote themselves. How to take care of your thangka?
-Regular Inspection of your thangka; examine the borders and all attachments.
-Keep thangkas covered when they are on display but not in use.
-Rotate thangkas between display and storage regularly, two to four times a year, to reduce the amount of exposure to light. Keep away from sunlight and humidity.
-Do not apply liquids or other materials to the surface of the thangka.
