Product Description
Dorje Drollo Buddhist Thangka, 8 Manifestation Of Padmasambhava
Dorje Drollo, also known as Guru Padmasambhava's wrathful manifestation, is one of his eight manifestations. In this Buddhist Brocade thangka, he has three piercing eyes and a fierce demeanor. His third eye represents his intelligence, creative insight, and intuition. His complexion is a dark brown, and his unique mop of curly hair is an earthy yellow. He is dressed similarly to Padmasambhava but with a garland of fresh human heads and beautiful bone decorations. Amid a roaring flame, he rides a wild, savage tigress as she tramples on a body. Dorje Drollo is in an entire anger posture, holding his ceremonial dagger, phur pa, in his left hand and a Vajra lifted over his head as if ready to attack.

Dorje Drolo, also known as the Wrathful Vajra, is one of the eight forms of Padmasambhava, the renowned Buddhist guru. Padmasambhava is revered in Tibetan Buddhist tradition as the Second Buddha, who is said to have emerged as the wrathful Dorje Drolo to fly to 13 locations known as Tiger's Lair (Taktsang) to vanquish local deities. He took an oath to defend his teachings and left his stamp on the landscape with his hands and feet.
