Introduction of Shakyamuni Buddha
Siddhartha Gautama, born as the crown prince of the mighty Shakya Kingdom, was raised as a king according to his royal father's wishes. Around age 29, he became aware of the immense suffering experienced by people. He then renounced his opulent lifestyle, lavish clothing, and wealth to discover the source of this anguish and find a remedy. After more than six years of study, self-denial, and intense concentration, he finally achieved his goal, attaining nirvana and becoming a Buddha. He subsequently taught his insights, famously at a deer park near Sarnath (Benares), outside Varanasi, India.
