About Our Ritual Item:
This Decorative Silver Treasure Box is a beautifully handcrafted Himalayan artwork created by master artisan Dharma Raj Shakya around 1975. Made from a silver body, this exquisite box showcases intricate traditional metalwork featuring delicate filigree, fine granulation, raised ornamentation, and carefully placed original coral and turquoise stones. The detailed craftsmanship and compact design make it a remarkable example of traditional Newar silver artistry.
The lid and sides of the box are richly decorated with elaborate silver patterns, featuring a central floral arrangement surrounded by turquoise and coral embellishments. In Himalayan cultures, coral and turquoise are highly valued not only for their natural beauty but also for their symbolic associations with protection, auspiciousness, and spiritual well-being. The precise filigree and handcrafted details reflect the skill and dedication of traditional Himalayan silversmiths.
This Decorative Silver Treasure Box is a meaningful addition to collections of Himalayan antiques, traditional jewelry boxes, and handcrafted silver artworks. With its documented age, artisan attribution, significant silver content, and exceptional detailing, this piece represents the cultural heritage and refined craftsmanship of Himalayan decorative arts.
Introduction To Treasure Box:
In Buddhism, it is said that the rationale for hiding Treasures is said to have been formulated when Padmasambhava discerned the future, a time when Tibetans would need special teachings to get them through certain difficult periods. He, therefore, designed special Buddhist practices and scriptures just for those times and proceeded to set up the circumstances for those special teachings to be revealed at just the right moment. This involved designating some of his disciples to reveal those teachings in a future lifetime. Padmasambhava then uttered an empowering prophecy about that future revelation and proceeded to hide the teachings in a way that they would not be available until the proper prophesied moment in the future.
Thus, today treasure Box is used for various purposes. One can use the Treasure Box to set up and do the meditation or use it as a decorative purpose for meditation. Sometimes they contain different chambers for specific things.
