About our Statue
This Hand-Carved Dancing Couple Citipati statue, made of ethically sourced buffalo bone, is an excellent example of Tibetan Buddhist iconography. Standing 13cm tall, the Citipati figurines are highly sculpted, depicting their happy dance amidst whirling flames. The Citipati, also known as the Lords of the Charnel Grounds, represent impermanence and the transcendence of life and death. Their vivid yet melancholy artwork teaches us to accept the ephemeral essence of life and seek release from attachment.
This Citipati sculpture is ideal for spiritual practitioners or those who appreciate one-of-a-kind art. It would look great on altars, meditation rooms, or the house. Its elaborate design demonstrates the devotion of talented craftspeople, resulting in a sculpture that is not only significant but visually appealing. This figure, whether given as a gift or kept as a personal treasure, encourages meditation on life's deeper truths.
Introduction To Chitipati :
A well-known deity in Tibetan Buddhism, particularly in the Vajrayana or Tantric tradition, is Chitipati, which is also called Citipati. Chitipati is frequently portrayed as a dancing skeletal figure and is known as the "Lord of the Cemetery" or the "Cemetery Guardian." This representation symbolizes life's impermanence and death's inevitability, central themes in Buddhist teachings.
