Dakini Mandarva, Guru Padmasambhava Consort Thangka
This Thangka is handpainted with 24k gold and acrylic color by our artist from Kathmandu. Dakini Mandarva is also Guru Padmasambhava's consort. In Tibetan Buddhism, a transcendent woman is a fully enlightened Buddha who takes on the shape of an ordinary woman so that ordinary people can approach her. She holds a nectar vase in her left hand and a mirror and arrow fitted stick in her right hand. Her lower torso is draped with patterned silks, and her body is adorned with precious ornaments. Her face gazes down with a blue nimbus behind her, surrounded by gold patterns.

Note: Mandarva Thangka is an original painting from Enlightenment Studio located at Boudha Stupa.
lhacham Mandarava was a princess, her father was king of Zahor, named Vihardhara, and her mother Mohauki. Her birth was foretold by Buddha's disciple Kashyapa, and she was to be a manifestation of the wisdom body Vajravarahi, endowed with all the qualifying marks. When Mandarava first met with Guru Padmasambhava, at the age of 16, she was already ordained as a monk. Instinctively, she realized that Guru was a great teacher, and received teachings and empowerments of the secret Vajrayana, along with her attendants in her private chambers in the palace. Upon receiving the initiations from him, Mandarva became both disciple and consort of the Mahaguru.
