33cm Chitipati Thangka | The Dancing Skeletons | Karma Gadri Artistry
Experience impermanence and spiritual awareness through this Chitipati, a sacred hand-painted thangka by a Nepali artist. Created on cotton using natural stone pigments and 24K gold, it exudes depth and vitality. Mineral pigments maintain vibrant coloration over time, while gold accents emphasize sacred contours, giving it a lively, dynamic presence. Following the traditional Karma Gadri style, it showcases a graceful layout, detailed linework, and symbolic storytelling, reflecting life's transient nature and the pursuit of spiritual freedom.
This thangka depicts the Chitipati—dancing skeleton deities—in a graceful yet commanding dance that symbolizes life and death. They are encircled by a halo of glowing flames, representing the eradication of ignorance and attachment. Each deity holds ritual sticks and skull cups, symbolizing transformation and ego-offering. Their skeletal form signifies freedom and serves as a reminder of life's fleeting nature, emphasizing that true liberation arises from acceptance and awareness. The lotus throne represents purity overcoming illusion, while the celestial background of clouds and landscapes conveys sacred vastness and depth. Every brushstroke in this Chitipati Thangka captures the dynamic balance between life, death, and rebirth. This image radiates spiritual energy, prompting contemplation of the cycle of life and impermanence. Possessing this thangka can foster mindfulness, courage, and happiness in your spiritual journey.
