A Sacred Vision of Chinnamasta, the Headless Yogini | Vajrayana Wrathful Goddess | Painted in Paubha Tradition with Symbolic Border Motifs
Experience sacred power through this hand-painted Chinnamasta Thangka, showcasing traditional Himalayan craftsmanship. Made on fine cotton canvas by a talented Nepali artist, it features vivid acrylic colors and shining 24K gold accents. It follows the classical Newar Paubha style, known for its intricate detail, perfect symmetry, and spiritual depth. Surrounded by a richly decorated border, this painting is more than just a piece of art—it serves as a portal to divine energy and a path to meditation.
At the center, Chinnamasta, the fierce and mysterious goddess known for self-decapitation, is depicted in her iconic moment—her head held in one hand, drinking blood from a stream rising from her neck. Two other bloodstreams nourish her attendants, Dakini and Varini, who dance beside her, accepting her vital energy with open mouths. Her body, decorated with a garland of severed heads and bone jewelry, exudes raw, vibrant energy. The curved knife symbolizes cutting through ego and ignorance, while her nudity signifies the truth beyond illusion. Behind her is the sacred Shri Yantra Mandala, which represents creation and the universe, and is incorporated, embodying her energy, fearlessness, and deep symbolism in a harmonious way.
The bottom section depicts numerous divine figures, including yoginis known for their wisdom and power. Above, Kali Mata is seated calmly over Shiva, showing their cosmic unity. Elements like sacred flames, lotus bases, aura rings, and the goddess’s trident enhance the spiritual scene, showcasing the richness of tantric symbolism.
A border features detailed figures, including Nagkanya, a dragon, a Garuda, and a Kirtimukha, each conveying protection and significance. The symmetrical design elegantly encircles the central image. This thangka is ideal for a home altar, meditation space, or as a meaningful spiritual gift, blending artistic beauty with deep symbolism to invite protection, spiritual growth, and sacred energy into your environment.
