Description

Bodhisattva Thangka- Chenrezig, Manjushri, Vajrapani

The Bodhisattva Thangka of Chenrezig, Manjushri, and Vajrapani is handpainted in stone colors and 24k Gold by our artist.

Chenrezig's two front hands are clasped in front of his jewel-draped heart in a holy gesture. His particular emblem, a crystal akshamala, or rosary, a symbol of the never-ending cycle, is held in his upper right hand. His left hand holds a white lotus, symbolizing that he liberates conscious people from the muddy streams of pain and hellish realms, bringing them to the new stages of enlightenment. He is dressed in silk and sits on a row of lotus petals, both legs in the "diamond stance" of meditation.

Manjushri's right hand wields the sword of emptiness wisdom, which he uses to slay ignorance, the source of all suffering. His left hand is holding a lotus flower, on which he has put the book of transcendental wisdom. He wears a headdress and is decked with costly and valuable jewelry.

Vajrapani's head is adorned with skulls and surrounded by a skull headband much more extensive than his body. He is shown standing atop a sun disc with four fangs and a wrathful expression. His flame-shaped brows and beard and his long, flowing hair flow madly like a blazing fire. He's wearing a loincloth that he wraps over his hips. The fabric was made from the skin of a tiger.

Note: Chenrezig Thangka is an original painting from Enlightenment Studio located at Boudha Stupa.

When Chenrezig committed to leading everyone and saw many suffering people, he got unhappy, and his skull broke into thousands of pieces. Amitabha Buddha reassembled the fragments into a body with many limbs and heads, allowing Chenrezig to deal with a large number of creatures at once. Chenrezig is sometimes shown as having eleven heads, and a thousand arms splayed out around him.

Manjushri is the embodiment of all the Buddhas' knowledge. Buddhists believe he is the only deity of wisdom who bestows wisdom to worshippers to improve their memory and intelligence.

Vajrapani, a Bodhisattva, is a member of the Vajra Family of Akshobhya Buddha. His mantra is "Om Vajrapani Hum." Vajrapani is the first god in this series to be shown in a wrathful form, encapsulating all of the buddhas' limitless power.
