About Our Product
This Ceremonial Vajra Bell Set is a traditional Tibetan Buddhist ritual set crafted from bronze and brass. The bell measures 14cm in height, 7cm in length, and 7cm in width with a weight of 0.26 kg, while the vajra measures 2.5cm in height, 11.5cm in length, and 2.5cm in width with a weight of 0.1 kg. The total weight is 0.37 kg. The detailed metal surface, carved motifs, ritual handle, and balanced shapes reflect the sacred design commonly associated with Vajrayana Buddhist practice.
This ritual bell has a wide decorated body with detailed patterns and a sacred handle rising from its center. At the top of the bell is a vajra shaped finial, while below it appears a crowned female face traditionally associated with Prajnaparamita, the perfection of wisdom. The bell represents wisdom, emptiness, and clear understanding, while its sound is used during Buddhist rituals to support awareness and meditation. The vajra, also called a dorje, has curved prongs on both ends surrounding a central section. It represents the indestructible nature of awakened mind, spiritual strength, and compassionate method. Its paired sides also express the union of important qualities on the Buddhist path. When the vajra and bell are used together, the vajra represents compassionate method while the bell represents wisdom. Their union symbolizes the joining of wisdom and compassionate action, which are essential qualities on the Vajrayana path toward enlightenment.
In Vajrayana Buddhism, the Vajra Bell Set is used during meditation, prayers, mantra recitation, offerings, and ceremonial practice. The vajra is traditionally held as a symbol of compassionate method and spiritual strength, while the bell supports wisdom and mindful awareness. This set is suitable for Buddhist altars, meditation spaces, prayer rooms, monasteries, Dharma centers, or collections of Himalayan ritual objects, where it can serve as a meaningful reminder of balance, clarity, devotion, and the path toward enlightenment.
Introduction to Vajra & Bell
The vajra means "diamond" or "lightning" in Sanskrit, is an important symbol and ritual instrument in Hinduism and more in the Buddhist tradition Vajrayana ("diamond way") to which it gave its name.
Tibetan Dorje represents the indestructibility and efficiency that overcome all obstacles. Symbolically, Dorje Vajra destroys ignorance. In Tibetan Buddhist rituals, the vajra is often used with the bell, representing the masculine and the feminine, the ying and the yang, the effective action, and the compassion. The shape of the Tibetan Dorje is symmetrical, the two pyramidal heads representing samsara and Nirvana, which cancel each other out in its center thanks to the ring of Emptiness. Having a Dorje at home would have positive virtues against the various attacks we suffer.
The bell or drills is the feminine aspect of the perfection of wisdom, which directly realizes emptiness.
The Vajra or Dorje represents the male aspect as a method or skillful means, the indestructible nature of the absolute. Together they symbolize the blessing mandala of a practitioner’s main yidam deity.
