About Our Product
This Buddhist Shrine Altar Phurba measures 22.5cm in height, 4cm in length, and 4cm in width, with a weight of 0.45 kg. Made from bronze in 2022, this traditional ritual dagger represents the craftsmanship and symbolism of Himalayan Buddhist art. The Phurba, also known as Kila, is a sacred Vajrayana object traditionally associated with transformation, protection, and overcoming spiritual obstacles.
This Buddhist Phurba features a detailed upper section with a carved wrathful deity face, an ornamental handle, and a pointed three-sided blade. The face carved at the top represents the powerful enlightened energy connected with Vajrayana practices, while the decorated shaft displays intricate patterns that flow into the blade. The golden bronze surface highlights the handcrafted details, including the symbolic designs around the handle and the carefully shaped blade that represents the cutting through of ignorance and negative forces. Each carved element reflects traditional Himalayan ritual artistry.
This handcrafted Bronze Phurba is suitable for Buddhist altars, meditation areas, Vajrayana collections, and spiritual displays. Traditionally used as a ritual object, the Phurba symbolizes transformation, stability, and the active power of enlightened practice. Made in 2022, this piece preserves the traditional beauty and sacred meaning of Himalayan Buddhist craftsmanship.
Introduction of Phurba
The ceremonial dagger (Sanskrit: Kila; Tibetan: phurba) is essential for expelling evil and is considered particularly effective in neutralizing the forces obstructing Tantric Buddhist practice. It has ancient origins, first appearing in the Indian Rig Veda as the core blade of the vajra used by Indra to destroy the primordial cosmic snake Vritra. Kila, derived from Sanskrit, was most likely associated with Vedic sacrifices. Meditation on the Vajrakila Tantra, an early Indian scripture first promoted in Tibet in the eighth century by Padmasambhava, one of the founding teachers of Tibetan Buddhism, is used to invoke the three-headed Vajrakila Buddha.
