Buddhist Ritual Serkyem Set for Devotional Practices
About Our Ritual Item
The Buddhist Ritual Serkyem Set is a finely designed ceremonial piece made of durable copper with an electroplated gold and silver finish. This wonderful combination, measuring 18 cm in height, 15.5 cm in breadth, and weighing 0.512 kg, serves both functional and symbolic purposes. Traditionally employed in Buddhist rituals, the Serkyem is a vase for offering holy water or wine, representing devotion and generosity to enlightened beings, spiritual deities, and dharma guardians.
A piece of religious art, the Serkyem set is adorned with elaborate imagery. The intricate engravings of auspicious symbols, such the Eight Auspicious Signs (Ashtamangala), which stand for good fortune, purity, and the timeless principles of Buddhism, are highlighted by the gold and silver plating. Intricate designs and floral themes are frequently etched on the base to represent spiritual development and connectivity. In addition to serving as a container for gifts, this ceremonial set is a potent symbol of reverence and spiritual harmony, making it a necessary component of Buddhist rituals and a motivating addition to any hallowed area.
Introduction to Serkyem
The Serkyem, also known as Golden Drink, is part of the Dharma Protector's practice. In Tibetan, Ser means "golden," and Kyem means "beverage."
It is offered by pouring the beverage into a cup-like wine glass and placing it into a lower bowl. The beverage is poured into the cup during the offering, where the liquid overflows into the lower bowl. The symbol of the overflowing liquid is highly auspicious because it represents an abundant flow of merits.
