Tibetan Copper Kapala Set with Gold Plating
In Tibetan Buddhist culture, the Kapala or Skull Bowl is used ritually in several ways. Our Ritual Kapala set comes in a set of two, both made from copper body and handcarved with amazing gold plating details of Buddhist symbols. The "jewel-bowl" is decorated with victory flags at each side which additionally beautifies the whole offering set.
For example, practitioners can use it as a bowl of altar offerings and fill it with wine or blood as a gift/offering to all the gods of the guardian deity or mandala or for performing higher esoteric rituals.
The skull cup, is also known as a Yogi's Begging Bowl; this is due to the belief that drinking from a skull cup shows a yogi's renunciation of the world and its conventions. A skull cup has three different parts; skull cup, cover and a base, twhich is symbolic of cooking of offerings in a pot burned over flames.
