About Our Product
This Buddhist Altar Torma Offering measures 22 cm in height and 14 cm in both length and width, with a weight of 0.54 kg. Made from copper with electric gold and electric silver finishes, the piece is decorated with gemstone, coral, and turquoise details. The surface features raised floral patterns, curling motifs, layered borders, and carefully worked ornamental sections that give the ritual object a traditional Himalayan Buddhist appearance.
This Torma Offering features a tall pointed upper form decorated with detailed scrolling patterns and a small sacred figure set within the central section. Below it, floral ornaments are accented with coral and turquoise stones, followed by a silver toned stepped section that separates the upper design from the base. The offering rests on a broad circular tray with beaded and decorative borders, supported by a flared pedestal with vertical carved lines. The separate decorative plate shown with the set has a silver toned surface with fine floral patterns, gold colored raised auspicious symbols arranged around the outer border, and a square opening at the center. These auspicious symbols represent blessings, good fortune, harmony, and positive spiritual qualities in Buddhist tradition. Its scalloped edge and beaded gold border add another layer of detail to the overall ritual set. In Tibetan Buddhist practice, tormas are ceremonial offerings used during rituals, prayers, and meditation practices as symbolic offerings to deities, protectors, and enlightened beings.
This Buddhist Altar Torma Offering can be used for altar placement, Vajrayana ritual practice, prayer ceremonies, monastery use, Dharma centers, temples, and home shrines. Its sacred form, gemstone decoration, floral details, raised patterns, and pedestal base make it suitable for traditional Buddhist offering arrangements and spiritual practice.
Introduction of Torma
Tormas are traditionally made from barley flour and decorated with butter buttons, though they can also be crafted from molded dough or other materials like wood or metal. The offering itself symbolizes prosperity, sustenance, and abundance. Typically arranged in sets of seven, these tormas honor the seven deities of the Tibetan Buddhist pantheon, especially the protectors. In the practice of Chöd, tormas are often used as symbolic offerings to wrathful deities. They are also frequently featured in Tibetan Buddhist rituals, serving as spiritual gifts presented to the enlightened mind of the Buddha. Additionally, tormas play a role in appeasing the hungry ghosts (preta), acting as a form of spiritual nourishment to satiate their insatiable hunger and bring them relief.
